New York is leading the way in developing the largest source of offshore wind power in the nation.
New York has committed to power six million homes with offshore wind energy by 2035.
WE THINK THAT’S A GREAT IDEA.
For our community, our environment, and our future.
What We’re Creating
IMPROVED PUBLIC HEALTH OUTCOMES
Generating power through wind energy reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and coal, reducing pollution, improving air quality, and lowering the risk of heart and lung disease risks for New Yorkers as well as asthma in children.
NEW
GREEN JOBS
New York’s commitment to developing 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy will create 10,000 green jobs for New Yorkers.
RENEWABLE
ENERGY
We’re generating clean, renewable energy to power nearly one million homes reliably, sustainably, and affordably.
STABILIZED
ELECTRICITY RATES
Wind power provides a consistent energy supply at consistent rates — all while preventing millions of tons of carbon emissions.
FIGHTING
CLIMATE CHANGE
When you divide the total emissions associated with a wind turbine by the amount of electricity it will produce in its lifetime, it works out at about 6 g of carbon dioxide for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity. That’s 99% lower emissions than fossil fuels.
