Letter to the PSC from Students for Climate Action
Judge Belsito,
I am a member of Students for Climate Action (www.s4ca.org). We have Chapters throughout New York and have hundreds of high school members.
In unison with contract agreements and predetermined deadlines, we staunchly oppose the adjournment of the litigation schedule, in light of not only the goals of Deepwater Wind Southfork, LLC, but the constraints and requirements of the State of New York to adhere to the CLCPA guidelines.
The spread of this pandemic has created a multitude of significant troubles and roadblocks, which will be alleviated through the normal proceedings of the litigation schedule. The progress on the project becomes more vital than ever.
Please do not delay the current schedule.
Not only will it stay on point to the State mandate, it will provide jobs for those seeking work and stimulate the threatened economy. The expansion and production of the South Fork Wind Farm will aid in providing necessary power and energy to local residents, businesses, and people as a whole, the necessary work to be done, including virtual meetings and communications, is ongoing and necessary action to be taken to ensure the quality of the procedure for all parties. Mandating the current litigation schedule presents the reward of clean energy, economic stimulation, and the betterment of the East End.
Above all else, the attempts of Citizens for the Preservation of Wainscott, Inc. to delay and adjourn the litigation schedule is far beyond the boundaries of public safety and management. The outlined request for adjournment and extension has proven shallow in the face of the party’s motivation to wreak havoc upon the development and progress of the South Fork Wind Farm, and we urge Your Honor to recognize the true intention of the opposition party in the matter.
With this understanding and concern, we once again urge the continued observation of the current litigation schedule, moving forward with caution, care, and conciseness as a beneficial means to all parties.
Thank you, sincerely, for your unwavering attention and cooperation in the matter at hand. We seek nothing more than a just and beneficial cooperation and impact in the matter, and we greatly appreciate your understanding.
With Sincerity,
Patrick Barnett
